An Eggstraordinary Day

This afternoon we welcomed the first day of spring today by decorating eggs for Easter!

We have been learning about Ukrainian “pysanky” which are also known as Ukrainian Easter eggs as part of our Social Studies curriculum. Ukrainian Easter eggs are very symbolic, and they are traditionally decorated using a wax-resist method. Today we tried using a “sharpie” resist method with great¬†results. Most of the eggs we decorated were hard boiled, but we even tried our hand at “blowing” an egg!

Grade 3’s, what was your favorite thing about egg decorating? Did you find anything challenging? Do you plan to decorate any eggs at home? Did you enjoy your afternoon?

  1. My favorite thing about egg decorating was just painting my eggs. The thing I found challenging is the time we had. Also last nigh I already did 2 blown eggs and I did enjoy the afternoon.
